RESOURCE·WORK·April 2026

Most offsite icebreakers are embarrassing and everyone knows it.

Two truths and a lie. The childhood dream exercise. The bingo card of fun facts. These exist because someone had to plan something and they're easy to plan. They rarely produce anything that lasts.

A good question is harder to answer. It requires someone to actually think. That's the point.

Eight questions that work

  1. What's something about your work right now that you're finding genuinely hard?
  2. What's something you're proud of from the last quarter that didn't get officially recognised?
  3. What's something you wish the rest of the team understood about your work?
  4. What do you find most energising about your work right now?
  5. What's draining you that we haven't talked about?
  6. What's something most people here don't know about you?
  7. What's the most interesting thing you've learned in the last year — inside or outside work?
  8. What do you think this team does better than it's given credit for?
